Frequently asked questions

The stuff most people want to know before they book a call.

Getting Started

I have an idea but no technical background. Can you help?

That's exactly who we work with most. You don't need to know what a database is or which framework to pick — that's our job. You bring the idea and the domain knowledge, we handle the technical side. We'll walk you through every decision in plain English so you always understand what's being built and why.

I'm just starting out. Is it too early to work with you?

Not at all. Some of our best work is helping solopreneurs go from "I have this idea" to a working product. We'll help you figure out what to build first, what can wait, and how to get something in front of real users without burning through your savings. Starting lean is smart — we'll make sure you stay that way.

Can you help me figure out what I actually need?

Yes — and that's what the discovery call is for. A lot of people come to us knowing the problem but not the solution. We'll ask the right questions, cut through the noise, and map out a realistic path forward. Sometimes the answer is simpler (and cheaper) than you think.

Pricing & Engagement

How much does it cost?

Every project is different, so we don't publish a price list. We work with solopreneurs, startups, growing teams, and established businesses — and we'll scope something that fits your budget and goals. You'll get a clear quote after the discovery call, before you commit to anything.

Do you charge hourly or fixed price?

Both, depending on the project. Defined builds get fixed pricing — you know the total upfront. Ongoing maintenance or advisory work is time & materials with a monthly cap you control. We'll recommend the model that makes sense for your situation.

What's the minimum engagement?

No minimum contract length. Some projects are a 2-week sprint, others run for months. We scope to the problem, not to a billing cycle. If you need a quick audit or a single automation, that's fine too.

Process & Delivery

What if I'm not happy with the work?

You have full visibility into progress through your dashboard — no waiting until the end to see what you're getting. If something feels off, we course-correct early. After delivery, your SLA defines the warranty and support terms. And once the project is paid for, the code is yours — no lock-in, no strings attached.

I'm not technical. Will I understand what's happening?

Yes. Most of our clients aren't technical — that's why they hired us. We explain things in plain English, show you working demos instead of code diffs, and you'll always know what's happening and why. No jargon, no hand-waving.

How do you communicate during a project?

Async by default — you get progress updates through your dashboard and email, no recurring meetings clogging your calendar. Need something? Reach out anytime. Response times and support levels are defined in your SLA, so you always know what to expect. No account managers, no ticket queues — just direct access to the person doing the work.

Tools & Approach

Do you only use open-source tools?

No. We use the right tool for the job. Sometimes that's open-source, sometimes it's a commercial product, sometimes it's custom-built. The goal is the best outcome for your business — not ideology. We'll explain the trade-offs and let you decide.

What tech stack do you use?

It depends on what your project needs. Common picks: React or Next.js for frontend, Node.js or Python for backend, PostgreSQL for databases, Docker for deployment, and whatever cloud or VPS makes economic sense. We pick the stack based on your requirements — not our comfort zone.

Can you work with our existing systems?

Absolutely. Most projects involve integrating with existing tools, APIs, or databases. We'll audit what you have, figure out what's worth keeping, and build around it. We don't rip and replace unless there's a clear reason to.

Security & Support

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes — happy to sign yours, or we have a standard mutual NDA ready to go. We treat every client's data and business information as confidential by default, NDA or not.

How do you handle security?

Security is built in, not bolted on. Every project gets encrypted credentials management, access controls, dependency scanning, and secure deployment pipelines. If you have compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.), we'll scope those into the build from day one.

What happens after the project is delivered?

You get the code, the docs, and the keys. The 30-day warranty covers any bugs. After that, we offer optional maintenance retainers — or you can take it fully in-house. We build things so you're never dependent on us to keep the lights on.

Ready to talk?

30 minutes, no obligation. We'll tell you honestly if we can help — and if we can't, we'll point you to someone who can.
